What you appreciate about WJU: I appreciate the genuine care of the faculty and staff, and the warm family environment manifested on campus. That sounds great, but what does it look like? In my experience, the faculty and staff of WJU live by a different standard than typical teachers. It’s difficult to get in and out of the faculty office area quickly, because as you walk through the building it’s common to be stopped by a few faculty members to chat for a bit as you walk by their open door. The faculty care about your academic success here, but your personal life is also an area they ask about and try to invest in. I enjoyed interacting with the warm family of the faculty when I was a student, which was first felt when they made it clear they prefer to be addressed by their first names, rather than their titles. Now, being on staff, I’m blessed to be a part of the team where the care and love are still just as evident.
Favorite things to do: On the weekend you might find me at the river with my buddies, going off the rope swing or jumping off the cliff. I enjoy making boats with friends and seeing how far down the American River it lasts with us as the rowing crew. I also enjoy driving out a while away from the city to get to the wild rivers of the area and fishing my favorite spots where I hang out with the old men who fish there. Anything involving water and sunshine is what I love to do, especially if it’s with my friends. I love eating sushi or BBQing with the fellas, and I still find time to enjoy a good book. I don’t watch much TV, but typically anything on the Discovery channel can get my attention. Otherwise, I’m all about The Office.
A favorite verse: Colossians 2:14
