Service

Service opportunities are available throughout the year at William Jessup University. We offer many Jessup sponsored outings for ministries such as homeless ministry, street evangelism, non-profit service, tutoring, discipleship and more. Students are also given the freedom to find an appropriate volunteer position within a church, mission organization or other ministry.

Traditional full-time WJU students are required to achieve a set amount of Service hours for their time at WJU.

Service Requirements

30 hours of Service are required for one half (1/2) of the semesters a student is enrolled full-time in the traditional undergrad program. Service credits can also be attained over the summer. A student must submit a completed Service Report Form at the end of each semester (or summer block) and turn it in NO LATER than the Friday before finals week for eligibility. Summer forms can be submitted up until the Fall add/drop deadline (about a week after school starts).

Notes:

  • NO MORE than 15 of the 30 hours in a given term (Fall, Spring, Summer) may be for on-campus service.
  • Ministry for which a student is paid does not count towards service credit.
  • Up to 2 semesters of Service Credit can be granted for non-paid internship hours.
  • Up to 3 semesters of Service Credit can be granted for qualified Teacher Education hours such as student teaching.
  • A $25 penalty will be due with any forms submitted after the appropriate deadline.

If you enrolled before Fall 08: some ministries for which a student receives payment or academic credit may count towards Service Credit.
