TICKETS TO COMMENCEMENT
Tickets for commencement will be distributed in late April. Each student is allotted 10 tickets.
We have the largest graduating class in WJU history this year! At this time we have so many requests for the maximum amount of 10 tickets that we do not have any tickets available for the lottery. We have found that, as commencement draws near, students have a better calculation of duplicate distributions or loved ones who are not able to attend as originally planned. Should you find that you have need for fewer tickets than originally requested, we would appreciate an email so that we can redistribute those to larger requests.
STILL NEED TICKETS?? We will be livestreaming the ceremony. Now Aunt Martha in Kalamazoo can watch along with you! Go to www.live.jessup.edu.
Regalia (cap and gown) and announcement orders will be different this year in that graduates will order directly from Jostens and have them delivered right to you. MAT students should order their hoods directly from Jostens as well. Please note your order can take up to 3 weeks to arrive so place your order soon.
GRADUATION Q & A MEETINGS
Graduation Q&A meetings will be held on the following dates (locations TBA):
- Thursday, March 12, 2015 at 5:30 P.M. in Room A-103
- Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at 5:30 P.M.
San Jose students will have a graduation meeting with the date and time TBA.
Honors will be announced at Commencement and are subject to change with final grades. Latin Honors for graduation will be based on a student’s entire academic history from all accredited institutions.
- Summa Cum Laude: 3.85 to 4.00 GPA
- Magna Cum Laude: 3.70 to 3.849 GPA
- Cum Laude: 3.50 to 3.699 GPA
Transfer students, including SPS students, who elect to utilize only WJU credits for honors calculations may graduate “with distinction.” To qualify, they must have achieved at least a 3.75 GPA on their WJU credits, exclusive of their transfer GPA. Certificates, second bachelor degrees, and post-baccalaureate certificates are only eligible for “with distinction.” WJU GPA (exclusive of transfer) must be 3.75 or above.
COMMON DELAYS IN DIPLOMA ISSUANCE/DEGREE CONFERRAL
You will need to have all financial obligations to WJU cleared in order to graduate–including library fines, overdue books, cafeteria charges, financial aid paperwork, and your tuition/fees account. The Business Office will take check, or cash. Payment may also be made online; in which case Visa or MasterCard may also be used. If paying by personal check, please pay by Friday, April 24, 2015 as the check must clear before you can participate in Commencement. If paying by credit card or cash, payment must be made on or before Friday, May 1, 2015 at noon.
For students enrolled in a course(s) at another institution: Official transcripts must be received by the Registrar’s office no later than Monday, June 15, 2015. Transcripts received later than June 15th will require you to reapply for a later degree posting date.
Incomplete grades at WJU must be completed prior to May 31 or reapplication will also be required.
