This all day field trip workshop starts at William Jessup University for a brief introduction and to set up carpooling to explore the American River and learn about water, watersheds and conservation as we do Project WET activities. Sierra Nevada Forests: Trees in Ecosystems

This all day field trip workshop starts at William Jessup University for a brief introduction and to set up carpooling to explore trees and PLT activities from Auburn to Yuba Gap along the I-80 corridor. Free PLT Activity guide included. Ends in the field at 5:00 pm. Bring your own lunch, water, and good walking shoes/boots (and maybe snow gear). Rain or snowfall might keep us mostly inside at WJU.
Night School for the Birds
Flying WILD
Thursdays, January 10, February 7, April 10, June 5: 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm
This evening workshop will introduce you to the wonderful Flying WILD program. Vivid colors, flight, and size, make birds an excellent vehicle for enticing students to learn about the natural environment. You'll see how to turn a school carnival into a bird education fair via service learning, and be introduced to some local birds, great internet resources and other bird education programs. Project Learning Tree and Flying WILD

Birds and trees go together! This all day fieldtrip workshop combines the old and widely-used Project Learning Tree and the new Flying WILD. We start at William Jessup University for a brief introduction and to set up carpooling to explore the trees, birds, and PLT/Flying WILD activities from Auburn to Yuba Gap along I-80. Learn a lot about trees and see how to turn the annual school carnival into a bird education fair via service learning. You'll get two great programs (and two free activity guides) in one day. WILD Pond Studies
Project WILD and Project WILD Aquatic
Saturdays, May 3 or June 7: 9:00 am to 3:30 pm
We'll use spotting scopes, dissecting scopes and microscopes. This all day indoor and outdoor workshop stays at William Jessup University and focuses on the plants and critters of our eight acre pond and associated grassland. You'll get two great programs (and two free activity guides) in one day. Bring your own lunch, water and good walking shoes/boots. Rain might keep us mostly inside at WJU.
Project Learning Tree
Project Learning Tree is an award winning, multi-disciplinary environmental education program for educators and students. PLT, a program of the American Forest Foundation, focuses on trees and plants, and is one of the most widely used environmental education programs in the United States and abroad. The first of the "Projects", PLT continues to set the standard for environmental education excellence. PLT activities are correlated to State Standards and are for K-8 educators. One free activity guide is included.
Project WILD and Project WILD Aquatic
Project WILD and Project WILD Aquatic are wildlife-focused conservation education programs used country-wide among educators of students in kindergarten through high school. They are based on the premise that young people and educators have a vital interest in learning about our natural world and are produced by the Council for Environmental Education. Project WILD and Project WILD Aquatic activities are correlated to State Standards and for K-12 educators. Two free activity guides are included.
Project WET
Project WET (Water Education for Teachers) is an award-winning, nonprofit water education program. Developed by the International Water Foundation and the Council for Environmental Education, Project WET facilitates and promotes awareness, appreciation, knowledge, and stewardship of water resources through the dissemination of classroom-ready teaching aids. Project WET activities are correlated to State Standards and are for K-12 educators. One free activity guide is included.
Flying WILD
Flying WILD, a new program of the Council for Environmental Education, introduces students to bird conservation through standards-based classroom activities and environmental service learning projects. Flying WILD encourages schools to work closely with conservation organizations, community groups, and businesses involved with birds to implement school bird festivals and bird conservation projects. Activities are geared to middle-schoolers, but curriculum can be adapted. One free activity guide is included.
