William Jessup University's Fish-a-Thon is an additional element of the Annual Trout Derby whereby participants of the Trout Derby may raise funds for themselves or others to participate in the Trout Derby.

Raise funds and create partners for the support of Short Term Missions and Outreach Projects for William Jessup University.
Who Can Participate
The Fish-A-Thon is open to anyone wanting to participate in the Annual Trout Derby. Simply download the form and raise a minimum of $35.00 to cover your entrance fee in the derby
Rules
- Participants may start collecting pledges as soon as they receive the pledge sheets. Reminder: Pledge sheets need to be turned in on the day of the trout derby, Saturday, May 2nd.
- Pledges may be made by anyone.
- All participants that are sponsored for at least $35 will have their derby entrance fee will be waived.
- Each sponsor making a pledge should write their own name, pledge per fish, and maximum pledge, or flat donation. All donations to William Jessup University are tax deductible. Sponsors can provide thier full name and mailing address in order to receive a tax deductible receipt letter.
- Participants may collect the pledge in advance but must keep pledges until all are collected.
- The total fish that a person can catch is 5 per California DFG regulations.
- The person collecting the highest amount of actual donations will win a guided Kokanee Fishing Trip on WhiskeyTown Lake with Steve Huber Guide Service.
- Upon completion of the fish-a-thon, participants will take a picture with the fish they caught and a volunteer will record each participant’s total number and weight of fish. Participants may then collect outstanding pledges. Please return pledge sheets with the money to William Jessup University by Friday, May 8, 2009.
- Participants may designate all donations to the Summer Mission of their choice (Tanzania, Cambodia). Please be sure to note the mission’s project at the top of the pledge sheet.
- The winner of the Fish-A-Thon will be announced May 14th after promised donations are collected.
Where does the money go?
100% of the funds raised through the Fish-A-Thon will go towards the Short Term Missions Trips for William Jessup University. This year the University is sending groups to:
- Cambodia - Service in partnership with AIM (Agape International Mission) and local churches to aid them in thier efforts to end child sex trafficking in Cambodia.
- Belize - Service in partnership with Pathlight Ministries to assist them in thier mission to provide education and resources to underprivileged and destitute peoples of Belize.
- Tanzania - Service in partnership with Hope of the Nations to help with bible schools for children and humanitarian relief.
