"My son, Richard, and I enjoyed a day of Father/Son bonding while steelhead fishing on the Klamath River with fishing guide Tom Stanton. We met up in Orleans, CA at 6:30 in the morning and immediately headed for the river with the 17 ft drift boat. After launching the boat we left Richard with the boat while I followed Tom along the road a few miles down river to leave his truck and trailer at the site where we would be landing the boat after our day of fishing. I drove us back to the launch site and we joined Richard who was anxiously waiting to get out on the water. We first motored up stream about 200 yards and Tom handed each of us a spinning rod and a batch of his specially seasoned salmon roe bait. He showed us how to bait our hooks and where to cast our lines. No sooner had we cast our lines we were feeling the exciting tugging from the hungry fish. Richard was the first to hook a fish, but it was a small one and Tom released it back into the cold river. We worked our way down the Klamath River with Tom on the oars maneuvering us through the mild rapids and on to the next well memorized fishing location. The large fish were taking the day off, but the weather and scenery along that stretch of river was magnificent and well worth the trip even without the excitement of reeling in the monster fish. We thoroughly enjoyed our leisurely day with Tom and would recommend this fishing trip to anyone who would like to escape the daily routine of life and soak in the beauty of the Klamath River in Northern California the very knowledgeable Tom Stanton."
