WJU Expands School of Professional Studies Offerings

Renames Degree Completion Program

William Jessup University announced their Degree Completion Program (DCP) is now known as the School of Professional Studies (SPS). The name change accompanies an expansion of programs and more accurately reflects the university’s mission to serve and support working professionals.

The Rocklin based program will now offer three core majors including Business Administration, Counseling Psychology and a Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Credential Program.

SPS is offered through the Rocklin and San Jose campuses. The San Jose program will offer degrees in Business Administration, Counseling Psychology and Christian Leadership only.

“Helping students complete their degree will remain a core objective of our School of Professional Studies,” explained Sam Heinrich, director of the renamed program. “We are pleased to have an added dimension of post graduate programs such as the new Post-Baccalaureate Teaching Credential and anticipate providing other graduate offerings in the near future.”

The new Business Administration degree closely aligns with the university’s traditional program incorporating many similar courses. The program is offered in place of WJU’s former Management Program, yet will continue to offer many of the same courses.

Graduates of the program will find potential employers receptive and familiar with a traditional Business Administration degree and value the strong analytical components of the program.

SPS joins WJU’s Teacher Education Department in a collaborative effort to offer a Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Credential Program beginning fall 2009.

With the new program, participants can obtain a teaching credential in less than 12 months. The one night a week accelerated format is designed for working adults and non-credentialed teachers while the number of units required and the total program cost compare favorably to other educational credential programs.
