On Saturday night, December 1, William Jessup University dedicated part of their newest expansion project, a 1,018 seat gymnasium, to honor lifetime major donors, Jack and Nancy Horton. The Horton Court is part of the Warrior Arena and will host men’s and women’ NAIA basketball and volleyball games for years to come.
William Jessup University will sponsor a new initiative entitled, “ACTS: Advancing City Transformation Strategies” in partnership with local churches, the Luis Palau organization, and with regional business and civic leaders to extend the recent efforts resulting from Season of Service, Convoy of Hope, and similar works.
Veterans Day falls on a Sunday this year therefore, ceremonies at William Jessup University will take place the day after the commemorative day on Monday, November 12 beginning at 8 a.m. at the university’s Rocklin campus flagpole. The event will honor all veterans for their dedicated and loyal service to our country.
William Jessup University will host the Jessup Gala on Saturday, November 3 beginning at 6 pm. The Gala event raises funds for student scholarships.
The Jessup Gala will boldly feature the university’s specific vision as a Christ-centered university, as the themes of innovation, inspiration and impact highlight Jessup’s effect in the region and beyond.
The evening program also features Jessup’s President, Dr. John Jackson as he discusses his vision for the growing university and delivers an interactive “State of the University Address.”
William Jessup University recently co-sponsored the Fish Fest held at Gibson Ranch on Saturday, June 2. President Jackson took the stage and shared a few words with the thousands in attendance about WJU’s mission and vision at the day-long event. The concert featured seven artists including Natalie Grant, Lincoln Brewster, Mikes Chair, Big Daddy Weave, Kingdom Band, Josh Wilson and Lisa Daggs. WJU student Mike Johns played drums along with his dad Kip who played the bass guitar with Lincoln Brewster’s band when they took the stage.
William Jessup University’s Public Policy Institute publishes a new book written by Senior Fellow, Dr. Merlin Switzer, Bold Leadership: Biblical Principles for Marketplace Impact available on Amazon and through the PPI webpage at www.jessup.edu/academics/public-policy/public-policy-institute.
In his book, Dr. Switzer provides insights and input collected from nearly 100 successful marketplace leaders around the country who have boldly lived out their faith in the organizations they represent.
William Jessup University, the first WASC accredited private, four-year residential Christian Liberal Arts University in the greater Sacramento region will celebrate its annual Commencement on Saturday, May12 from 10 a.m. to noon at Adventure Christian Church in Roseville. This is the university’s largest graduating class to date.
“We look forward to the impact our graduates are going to make as they transition from our university setting,” said Dr. John Jackson, president of the 72 year old university.
William Jessup University hosted “Coffee Talk with Francis Chan” on Thursday, April 19. The event brought over 1100 people to the bustling campus to hear the well-known American preacher, speaker and author as he shared his heart and passion for our Lord. Chan started the evening by challenging the crowd to imagine if they were the only Christian in Rocklin, would they be able to stand firm in their faith? He also discussed the need for Christians to be “Independently dependent on Jesus Christ” by knowing Him both through the scriptures and relationally.
William Jessup University hosted Placer County’s Second Annual STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Expo on Saturday, March 24.
The Expo is an innovative alternative to a typical science fair offering workshops, presentations and hands-on science demonstrations, as well as robotics tournaments.
William Jessup University’s Public Policy Department and Institute were recognized at the twenty first Economic Development Summit held at Sun City Roseville on March 22, 2012. Their leadership on the Walk & Talk led to that event receiving the PCED's Innovation Award.
Dave Butler, CEO of LEED (Linking Education and Economic Development) nominated the inaugural effort.
