WJU’s Community Wind Ensemble New Season Begins September 3
William Jessup University’s Community Wind Ensemble begins its fifth season at the growing university with the first rehearsal scheduled for Tuesday, September 3 at 7 p.m. Under the direction of Van B. Crane, the Ensemble has planned concerts on campus as well as performances in several nearby community venues.
Designed to provide performance opportunities for the instrumental music students at WJU, the ensemble has expanded to include instrumentalists of all ages from the surrounding communities of Colfax, Auburn, Folsom, Carmichael, Fair Oaks, as well as Rocklin, Roseville and Lincoln.
“We always have room for more qualified musicians,” Crane said. “While there are openings for interested musicians in all sections of the ensemble, we are especially looking for those who play percussion, French horn and contra bass clarinet.”
The Ensemble is open to adult musicians who have a desire to participate in a community ensemble that performs some of the great band music of all time including marches, show tunes, classics, and other traditional music for band. Qualified high school musicians are also welcome to join with the permission of their band directors.
The Ensemble rehearses on Tuesday evenings from 7-9 p.m. at the WJU Campus (333 Sunset Blvd., Rocklin).
Musicians interested in joining the Ensemble or simply desiring more information should contact Mr. Crane at vcrane [at] jessup [dot] edu or (707) 363-1679.
