Our Enduring Constitution – Historical Context and Current Challenges
The WJU Friends & Neighbors, Inspired – Fall Conference will feature William Jessup University WJU Public Policy Department Chair, Sosamma Samuel-Burnett, and a panel of distinguished constitutional experts will discuss “Our Enduring Constitution – Historical Context and Current Challenges”. The panel will include: Sharone Browne, Principal Attorney, Pacific Legal Foundation; Brad Dacus, President, Pacific Justice Institute; and David Llewellyn, Partner, Llewellyn Spann.
The program will provide an overview of the historical and contemporary significance of the US Constitution and discuss key challenges being presented by issues of today. Attendees will have an opportunity to engage in an open question and answer session following the panel discussion.
This year’s conference is not only timely but also significant in light of the election year, current legal and legislative actions, and the impact on communities and individuals. There is no better time to be aware of the foundations of our country but also current trends and implications for personal freedoms and responsibilities. Civic engagement starts with an informed citizenry and an active voting community. The U.S. Constitution gives us an enduring instrument to be informed and engaged.
In addition, the University music students will perform. The Conference will include registration at 9:30 am, 10:00 am conference start, lunch at noon and conclude at approximately 1:30 pm. Conference registration is $15.00 to cover the cost of lunch.
