Candidates for graduation must file an application with the Registrar. Each conferral date has a separate application deadline listed on the application. All students wishing to participate in the May commencement must submit an application for graduation no later than than April 1 of that same year. The student initiates the application by requesting a preliminary check of his or her records with the academic advisor. Upon obtaining the application, the student lists all remaining degree requirements, obtains the required approvals, and returns the application to the Registrar’s Office. The graduation petition fee will be added to the student’s account when the application has been processed.
Students filing a completed application with the Registrar after the deadline will be charged an additional late fee of $75. Graduation applications will not be accepted within one month of graduation. A candidate who fails to graduate on the selected date is required to file a new application for graduation and pay an additional fee.
Candidates are cautioned to examine their academic records for accuracy and to verify completion of Christian Service requirements, Chapel requirements, and Spiritual Formation requirements prior to submitting their Application for Graduation.
In addition, candidates for graduation from WJU must satisfy the faculty as to their fitness for Christian ministry. Students may be disqualified from graduation for inappropriate moral, physical, or social behavior.
All academic and financial obligations must be fulfilled prior to graduation.
