Verification

The federal government requires all colleges and universities to go through a review process known as verification. This process confirms all information submitted on the FAFSA for accuracy and completeness. If selected, you will be asked to submit the following documents:

For a dependent student*:

  • Dependent Verification Worksheet: Download Verification form.
  • All student W-2’s for the year stated on the FAFSA (for example: if filing the 2008-2009 FAFSA, 2007 information is needed).
  • The student’s signed tax return forms for the year stated on the FAFSA (for example: if filing the 2008-2009 FAFSA, 2007 information is needed).
  • All parent W-2’s for the year stated on the FAFSA (for example: if filing the 2008-2009 FAFSA, 2007 informationis needed). If only one parent's information is provided on FAFSA, that parent's W-2's are needed.
  • Parent signed tax return forms for the year stated on the FAFSA (for example: if filing the 2008-2009 FAFSA, 2007 information is needed).
  • Any other documentation requested by the Financial Aid Office (if applicable)

For an independent student*:

  • Independent Verification Worksheet: Downloand Independent Verification Form.
  • All student W-2’s for the year stated on the FAFSA (for example: if filing the 2008-2009 FAFSA, 2007 information is needed).
  • Student signed tax return forms for the year stated on the FAFSA (for example: if filing the 2008-2009 FAFSA, 2007 information is needed).
  • If married, we will need all of the spouse's W-2s as well as the signed tax return forms (if filed separately) for the year stated on the FAFSA .

*Your dependent/independent status is based on FAFSA criteria. Look on your Student Aid Report to see which one applies to you.

Submit all necessary forms to the Financial Aid Department as soon as possible. Your financial aid can not be packaged until the verification process is completed. This procedure takes 7-10 business days to complete after all necessary documents are received. Our mailing address is as follows:
