Verification

The federal government requires all colleges and universities to go through a review process known as verification. This process confirms all information submitted on the FAFSA for accuracy and completeness and confirms the students maximum financial aid eligibility.

If you are selected for verification, you will be asked to submit the following documents:

For Dependent Students*

  • 11-12 DEPENDENT Verification Worksheet (for enrollment in Fall 2011, Spring 2012, Summer 2012)
  • 10-11 DEPENDENT Verification Worksheet (for enrollment in Fall 2010, Spring 2011, Summer 2011)
  • All student W-2 forms for the corresponding income tax return.
  • First 2 pages of student’s signed income tax return for the year stated on the FAFSA.
  • All parent W-2 forms for the corresponding income tax return(s). If information is provided on the FAFSA for only one parent, W-2 forms are needed for that parent only.
  • First 2 pages of parent's signed income tax return for the year stated on the FAFSA.
  • Any other forms requested by the Financial Aid Office.

For Independent Students*

  • 11-12 INDEPENDENT Verification Worksheet (for enrollment in Fall 2011, Spring 2012, Summer 2012)
  • 10-11 INDEPENDENT Verification Worksheet (for enrollment in Fall 2010, Spring 2011, Summer 2011)
  • All student W-2 forms for the corresponding income tax return.
  • First 2 pages of student’s signed income tax return for the year stated on the FAFSA.
  • If married, all spouse W-2 forms for the corresponding income tax return and signed income tax return (if filed separately) for the year stated on the FAFSA.
  • Any other forms requested by the Financial Aid Office.

* Your dependent/independent status is determined by the FAFSA. Look on your Student Aid Report to see which one applies to you.

Submit all necessary forms to the Financial Aid Office as soon as possible. Your financial aid will not be reflected on your student account until the verification process is completed.
