Students at William Jessup University may apply for financial aid each academic year. To help with this process, the following is a simple explanation of how to apply for financial aid. If you have any questions you may contact the Financial Aid Department at (916) 577-2233 or finaid [at] jessup [dot] edu.
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by going to www.fafsa.ed.gov. Our school code is 001281. For more information click on the FAFSA link.
- A Student Aid Report (SAR) will be sent to you within four to six weeks (your FAFSA information is processed almost instantly and is forwarded electronically to the schools you listed on the FAFSA). The SAR is a report that recaps your FAFSA information and provides you with your Estimated Family Contribution (EFC). When you receive your SAR, check for any corrections that might need to be made. If there are corrections to be made - or if you have not listed WJU (001281) - you may go back online or call 1-800-4-FEDAID to make any necessary changes.
- Upon your acceptance to WJU, you may receive a letter from the Financial Aid Office requesting additional documents for a process known as verification. Some students will be selected by the Department of Education to have their FAFSA information double checked for accuracy by the Financial Aid Office. For more information click on the Verification link.
- Once you have been accepted and have completed the verification process (if you were selected), you can expect to receive an award letter within 2-3 weeks. Please review the aid for which you are eligible, sign one copy of the letter, and return it to the Financial Aid Office to confirm the aid you have requested.
- If you desire to borrow student loans for the first time (or you are a continuing borrower but are switching to a different lender), you should expect to receive an email from the Financial Aid Department. For more information, please click on the Student Loan link.
- The Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS Loan) is also available to most families as an additional mechanism to help pay your remaining balance. For more information, click on the PLUS Loan link.
- Complete all admissions requirements. Your admissions file must be complete before you can receive any aid.
