Four Seniors Honored for Conference Play

Rocklin, CA - The Cal Pac All Conference Men's Soccer Teams were announced today for the 2007 season. Holy Names University swept the results as they swept through our conference; producing the player of the year, newcomer of the year, and defender of the year. William Jessup University represented well with 5 players being honored for the season.

Senior Kyle Navarro ended the season with 8 goals and 2 assists, earning him a spot on the All Cal Pac 2nd Team. Kyle Navarro twice earned the Cal Pac Offensive Player of the Week. Once he was awarded for his hatrick versus Pacific Union, and a second time for his game winning goal from 40+ yards out versus Dominan in Conference play. Senior Andrew Koekemoer also found his way on All Cal Pac 2nd Team with 7 goals and 5 assists. Koekemoer was awarded Cal Pac Offensive player of the week for single handedly dismantling Simpson University with 2 goals and 2 assists, at their house, early in the season. Senior Goal Keeper William Squires and senior Sweeper Kyle Smith were awarded All Conference Honorable Mention for their tenacious battling to defend the Warrior net. Squires earned Cal Pac Defensive Player of the Week for shutting out Dominican in Conference play with 10 saves, he was also awarded NAIA Region II Defensive Player of the Week for this perfromance. And finally sophomore Curtis Griffin found himself to be the only Warrior rookie earning accolades, as his 6 goals and 3 assists were good enough for All Conference Honorable Mention.

"I'm proud of these guys. We didn't have the most talent in the conference but we played with more heart and discipline than most of the other schools and ended up finishing the season well. I am dissappointed that some of my seniors didn't get 1st Team All Conference recognition, they deserved it based on their stats, but the other coaches in the conference have placed their votes and the results are final. We can't complain, we were blessed with a decent season and it was a good experience for the team. Now we look to the future and prepare for 2008, we have many holes to fill" said Coach Howser after the All Conference Teams were announced.
