CHICO, CA – For the first time since the school moved to Rocklin in 2004, the Jessup volleyball program played an NCAA opponent. Their first game matched them against the #13 ranked Chico State University Wildcats. The Wildcats showed their championship mettle in a three game sweep over the visiting Warriors (30-14, 30-15, 30-15). On their way to the victory, Chico State set a school record with 21 service aces. Morgan Saunders led the Warriors with seven kills and Grace Cordero led with nine assists. For the Wildcats Kelly Smiland and Crystal Trifeletti led the game with eleven kills while Steph Aschenbrenner led all players with 20 assists. Chico State had a hitting percentage of .405 while Jessup had a percentage of .016. The Wildcats only committed 12 errors while the Warriors committed 14. The next game for the Warriors will be on campus Thursday night against Walla Walla University. Thursday night’s game will mark the first time that a volleyball game will be held on campus since William Jessup University moved to Rocklin in 2004.
