ROCKLIN, Calif., - The William Jessup University softball team is wrapping up their inaugural season and keeping their eye on the future as they have signed two Junior College transfers for next season. Fresno City College sophomore Taylor Keenen and Sierra College sophomore Samantha Lynn McMahan will dawn the Warrior uniform next season.
"These players bring the solid performance level and skill set necessary to improve on what we've accomplished in our inaugural season," explained Warrior head coach, Jessica Pistole. "They both come from successful programs and will help us to continue to build a solid foundation of success at WJU."
Keenen, a Clovis native, comes to Jessup after an outstanding two year career at Fresno City College. The outfielder had a very successful career at Clovis High School. She is a member of the Dean's list.
"I am excited to join the Jessup program because it is a great opportunity to be a part of building a great program," stated Keenen. "I felt an immediate chemistry with the team, coaches and university."
McMahan helped led Sierra College to the state championship game in her freshman year. The Rio Linda native was named to the state championship all-tournament team. She is currently in her sophomore year were she is hitting .338 with six homeruns. McMahan plays first base for the 28-4 Wolverines.
"I chose WJU because of the close knit community that it gives off," stated McMahan. "The players and coaching staff are enthusiastic and caring.”
