Inaugural Softball Season Schedule Released

Rocklin, CA - Jessica Pistole, William Jessup University's Head Coach for Softball, released the Warriors 2010 playing schedule today.
William Jessup University will open up their inaugural season on the road at the Simpson University Big League Dreams Classic in Redding, California on February 12-13. The Warriors first ever game will be against perennially ranked in the top 5 of the NAIA powerhouse Point Loma Nazarene University. In addition, the Warriors will finish the classic against NAIA #1 ranked and 2009 NAIA softball champions from California Baptist University. The Warriors will continue on the road as they travel to play NCAA Div. II competitor Academy of the Art University (Feb. 17), before traveling to participate in the Southern Oregon University Invitational (Feb. 25-27).
The Warriors first ever home game in school history will take place against California Pacific Conference rival Bethany University on March 5. Jessup will follow up with another conference game against Menlo College on March 6. Then, the Warriors will travel to take on the defending CALPAC champions from Holy Names University on March 17.
Jessup will spend spring break on the road in Southern California as they tour the Golden State Athletic Conference schools. The trip will start out in Coast Mesa, CA against Vanguard University (March 30). From their Jessup will travel to Concordia University-Irvine (March 31), Hope International University (April 1), and California Baptist University on (April 2).
Jessica Pistole is excited to see how the first year program fairs with a challenging schedule.
"I am excited to see where we stand against some of the best teams in the NAIA," said coach Pistole. "We are building this program from the ground up and we will get a close up view of what it takes to win at this level. It will be a valuable experience for our program as we build a foundation for the future."
Holy Names University is the preseason favorite to repeat as the California Pacific Conference Champions. Simpson University is picked to finish second. Added to the Cal Pac line-up in 2010 will be University of Great Fall (MT) which joins the five Cal Pac softball teams (Bethany University, Holy Names University, Menlo College, Simpson University and William Jessup University) for a competitive grouping that will send a contender to the 2010 NAIA National Softball Championships in Decatur, AL on May 20-26.
