Career Opportunities

Although many English majors become teachers, the major also is excellent preparation for other fields. Many English graduates go on to law school or to graduate work in the humanities or education. Others find satisfying careers in fields where good communication and people skills are important, such as ministry, human resources, or technical writing. And of course many  become writers themselves.

Depending on their undergraduate concentration, WJU graduates are prepared to undertake graduate study in MFA programs in creative writing, MA or PhD programs in English, law degrees, single-subject credential programs, or study in many other fields.
