Boston University, Boston, Massachusetts: D.M.A. in progress
I earned my B.A. (Music Education), single subject credential (music), and M.A. in Vocal Performance from CSU, Hayward and will complete doctoral work at Boston University fall 2014. My primary research focus is in the area of applied voice teaching expertise. A past East Bay Opera League Audition winner, I have performed with the Oakland and Berkeley Opera Companies, True North Drama Company, and as a worship leader at church and women’s conferences. Most recently, I portrayed ‘Aunt March’ and ‘Martha’ in WJU Creative Arts Department’s “Little Women” and “White Christmas”.
God called me to San Jose Christian College in 1996. While I have had the privilege of watching the university grow, my greatest joy has been in watching our students grow in faith and talent, while maturing in Christ.
Favorite Class to Teach
I have too many favorite courses to choose just one!
I have always wanted to teach; from early childhood “let’s play school” through graduate studies I maintained a desire to practice good instructional methodology (in my young opinion I was the only one on my block who played the role of teacher correctly). I believe my love of teaching is a gift from our Lord; He is my inspiration to teach, and to offer my WJU students the best instruction I am able to give.
