Ed.D., Organizational Leadership.
I enjoy all levels of ministry theory and practice. I am especially interested in the structural side of organizational development, including building emotionally and spiritually healthy leaders. I spent 28 years in the military as a chaplain serving Special Operations, Combat Rescue and Intelligence missions. I also have 5 years as a hospital chaplain with the Sutter system.
This is my eighteen year at Jessup. I love the mission and vision of this place. Working with young growing leaders couldn’t be more rewarding. I had the privilege of knowing Bill Jessup. He was all about God’s mission in the world and the work of the local church. I am thrilled to be a part of the past and future mission here.
Favorite Class to Teach
I really enjoy all my classes but especially Strategic Communication and Pastoral Care and Counseling.
In Luke 4:18-19, Jesus stands up to present the lesson as the visiting Rabbi. He unrolls the scroll and reads Isaiah 61:1-2. Essential this passage is about himself. Jesus relates he has come to restore broken and oppressed people. That to me is my mission as well. This is the Gospel message. I learned how this works in a doing ministry for the last three decades. First as God worked with me and then as I work with others.
“The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is upon me, for the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed. He has sent me to tell those who mourn that the time of the LORD’s favor has come, and with it, the day of God’s anger against their enemies.
